Bishops Lydeard AFC names Paul West as its Director of Football.
BLAFC has officially appointed Paul West as its Director of Football.
The appointment will see Paul take charge of the organisation and coaching of the Men’s section before deploying his methods and standards through the youth section. Paul will also work along- side the clubs Chairman Gary Brown to further develop the clubs’ links with its local partners Taunton Town Football Club & Bridgwater & Taunton College, with an objective of developing pro- gression plans for players between the ages of 18 and 21 to push them to the highest level of foot- ball to meet their commitment and ability.
Paul comes with a huge wealth of experience and is probably remembered for leading TTFC to suc- cess in the FA Vase back in 2001. In recent years Paul has been instrumental in setting up the youth structure at Taunton Town and remains a hugely respected figure in the football community.
On committing to the role Paul commented:
I have always admired BLAFC for the effort they put into developing youth football across both genders and see the adults’ section as a sleeping giant in men’s football. In recent months I have had the fortune to see how professional the club is in its approach which is demonstrated by its immaculate facilities.
I am incredibly excited and eager to get involved with everyone to raise the expectations of the clubs’ coaches and players whilst keeping the club’s ethos of providing a safe environment for play- ers to develop.
Gary Brown (BLAFC Chairman) commented:
Appointing Paul is instrumental in delivering the Clubs long term strategy and shows the intent of BLAFC to further enhance its own stature within the football pyramid whilst sticking to its princi- ples of developing Local talent.
Paul brings a wealth of experience along with an enthusiasm and passion for the game which will rub off on everyone involved at BLAFC. I look forward to working with Paul to develop what we al- ready have in place to deliver the next stage of our ever moving 5 year plan.
Paul will commence the role with immediate effect working with BLAFC’s Director of Ladies Foot- ball Julie Bowker and the clubs adult section management to develop structured plans for pre-sea- son training to meet the desired philosophy.
